a little of Sarah Sadie's story...in her own words
My story is not a Hero's journey. I can't tell you there was One Moment when I heard a call. Nor was there One Moment when I was at my absolute lowest point, only to rally back, fight the dragon, and succeed.
Rather, as for so many of us, my story has been about layers, unfoldings, emergences (and a few emergencies) and ongoing discovery.
For twenty years, I've identified as a writer. A poet, to be precise. And my work has been published in anthologies, magazines, and five of my own books. I know firsthand the struggles of writers block, in all its forms.
And I also know how scary it can be when you realize there might be another dream, a different dream, knocking at the door. A few years ago during a monumental life upheaval, I remembered how much I loved to dance as a child. A love that was not nurtured. in my childhood environments. I began a journey of creative self-recovery that has led to becoming a certified Qoya dance instructor. Qoya infuses and inspires the work I do as writer, as guide, as coach, as teacher, as woman in the world.
My creative journey has been one of coming slowly into my own authenticity, discovering more joy than I knew was available, and fighting to own and honor that, to insist that my life make time and space for my enlarged and passionate sense of myself and my potential.
So yes, whether your dream is to finish the thing you're currently working on, or to reinvent yourself in new creative ways, or simply to give yourself the gifts of time and attention you lavish on those around you so easily...I'm here for you. This is what I do. It's what I love. It's my passion.
None of us walks the path alone. There are always guides and companions who show up along the way...
